The real story
Tom and Lee Kafafian started The Watershed Band in 2018.
The name comes from the Newark Watershed in northwestern New Jersey — rural land within thirty miles of Manhattan. We grew up on a property with horses in the pasture. We hunted and fished in the woods. We rode the train into the Village to thrift and buy records.
We've been close to the music business. Tom recorded and toured with Lady Gaga in the early years and has writing credits on The Fame. Lee played New York clubs through his twenties. Both of us have worked with people whose names you'd recognize.
We don't want the pep talk. Most songs don't blow up, and we're old enough to know it. We work. We raise families. We record when we can.
That's the arrangement.
